Description: Latauspotentiaalimenetelmä on otettu käyttöön 1980-luvulla lähinnä malmitutkimuksissa johteiden koon, sijainnin ja keskinäisten suhteiden kartoitukseen tutkimuskohteilla, joilla on tehty kairauksia.
Latauspotentiaali on galvaaninen menetelmä. Mittauksia on tehty eri puolilla Suomea lähinnä malminetsinnän tarpeisiin.

The mise-à-la-masse method was adopted in the 1980s mostly for ore exploration to determine the size, location and relationships of conducting entities at sites where drilling has been performed. The method has also been used in the mapping of joint and fracture zones in the bedrock.
The charged potential is a galvanic method. In the measurement, current is fed into the conducting body to be examined either through an outcrop or a borehole drilled into the formation, and the resulting potential field is mapped by ground and/or borehole measurements. The other current-feeding electrode of the transmitter, a so-called remote earthing electrode, is usually placed several kilometers away from the formation. The voltage is measured by keeping the other potential electrode fixed and moving the other one either in the borehole or on the ground surface. Mise-à-la-masse measurements were conducted as systematic surface measurements and borehole surveys. Systematic measurements commonly used lne spacings of 20-100 metres and station spacings from 5 to 20 metres. The direction of measurement lines was selected on the basis of local geology. In borehole probing, the station spacing is typically 2-5 metres. The measurements have been conducted in various locations in Finland mostly for ore exploration purposes.
